State-of-the-Art

To help us reach our goals, a state-of-the-art quality assurance lab was added to the RSI facility in 2000. This lab is equipped with a Wilson 2001E rockwell tester, a Veeco Stannomatic coating tester, and a digital springback tester.

  • Wilson 2001E Rockwell Tester
The purpose of the Wilson 2001E rockwell tester is to ensure that the temper of the material meets customer specification. In other words, it measures the hardness of the material and by comparing the test number with a rockwell range, it can be determined if the material meets customer specifications.
  • Veeco and Stannomatic Coating Tester
The Veeco and Stannomatic coating testers are used to measure the tin value, which is simply how much tin is on the material.
  • Digital Springback Tester
Used to determine the formability potential for Double-Reduced (DR) Tinplate.

Solutions

SolutionsIn order to better service our customers, RSI is continually making improvements to its equipment and areas of operation. With updated equipment and areas and proper employee training, Reynolds Services can concentrate its efforts on providing the best quality and service possible to its customers. Some of the past projects that have helped RSI continue its growth have been the integration of a computerized ticketing system, major upgrades to all three shear lines, the addition of an off-line sheet leveler, a single sheet slitter, and several warehouse expansions making RSI’s Greenville facilities in excess of 80,000 square feet.

Customer Base

Customer Base Reynolds Services, Inc. established a proactive export program in February 1999. Since the implementation of this program, RSI has not only been able to service customers worldwide, but are now able to do it more effectively. RSI has a customer base with countries in six out of the seven continents, recently establishing a customer base in the continent of Australia. Since the inception of the export program, RSI has grown the product base from coil line rejects and tinplate coils to also include galvanized and cold rolled steels. This product line expansion was made possible through a partnership with another local Pennsylvania-based steel company.

Quality Tracking System

Our Quality Tracking System Since the implementation of our quality tracking system, RSI has been able to track any single unit number all the way back to such details including: the employees who performed a quality check on that unit, when they performed the check, and then the material can even be tracked back to its mill specs and mill coil number. This system makes for an easy and efficient way of keeping track of our products and our customer's requirements. Rather than having to ask over and over again what specifications our customers want, if it is a repeat order or has any similarity what-so-ever to a previous order, finding the specifications is as easy as entering a past unit number. Also, going back to how we are able to trace a unit all the way back to the employees that have done a quality check, since every check must be signed off by a supervisor, any problems that are encountered can be handled and resolved in a quick and efficient manner. This system is also what allows us to now operate our barcoding system in such a way that all of our material can be tracked in a quick and easy manner. Here at RSI we never have to worry about a sheet of paper getting lost or an order being misplaced because everything is always typed into the system and documented through all of its processes.
